Middlesex Hospital

Middlesex Hospital, a highly regarded 275-bed community hospital, was established in 1904. It is the only hospital serving a county of over 200,000 people, and is the hub of a high-functioning health system  based on outstanding primary care and in particular family medicine.

The hospital offers patients some of the most state-of-the-art technology available anywhere, and has an outstanding medical staff. Superior radiological services, a Cancer Center, A Center for Bariatric Surgery, and two nationally-recognized satellite emergency departments are just a few highlights of what Middlesex Hospital offers the community.

Middlesex Hospital offers its patients some of the highest quality care available anywhere. It has been selected as a Thompson Reuters Top 100 Hospital in 2005, 2008, 2009, and 2011, and is currently the only Top 100 hospital in Connecticut. It was also the first Connecticut hospital to be awarded the prestigious Magnet award for premier nursing. It has certified as Baby Friendly for its promotion of breastfeeding by the World Health Organization since 2006.  It was recognized as the safest hospital in Connecticut in 2012 by consumer reports, and is consistently on the list of Connecticut's most wired hospitals.
