About the Program
After more than 35 years teaching family medicine, we've learned a little something about what makes a great doctor. That's why, over the years, we have attracted a diverse population of students with a wide range interests and from a variety of unique backgrounds. The one commonality: They all have a passion to be the best.
At the Middlesex Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program, we embrace this passion, and we work hard to provide our residents with an inspiring, provocative and unencumbered real world learning environment that brings community medicine to a whole new level.
What’s P4?
Our residency program includes a fourth year of some of the most innovative learning experiences a resident can find anywhere, including our Tracks of Excellence.
Our History. Our Mission.
Established in 1973, our residency program has a history of turning out some of the brightest, most talented, and most dedicated family physicians around.

The P4 Initiative offers residents a unique fourth year opportunity to become better prepared to provide patient care within an increasingly challenging medical environment.
A Balanced Curriculum
Real Balance. That’s what our educational program provides residents. It is designed to strike the right balance of practical experience and academics in a challenging environment.
Academic Affiliations
We have academic affiliations with the University of Connecticut, Yale University and Boston University Schools of Medicine.
