A Balanced Curriculum
The educational program is designed to strike the right balance of practical experience and academics, independence and supervised study, office practice and hospital care, biomedical and psychosocial issues, personal medical care and community health perspectives, core requirements, and self-directed learning.
As the only residency at Middlesex Hospital, there is no competition for training experiences from other specialties. Our residents enjoy free access to a wide variety of patients and problems as well as Middlesex Hospital's outstanding subspecialty attending staff. Selected rotations at nearby major academic institutions supplement the education at the hospital. The focus of our training is the continuity in the Family Medicine Center and Community Health Center settings - with teaching and supervision by the family medicine faculty.
Hospital rotations and specialty experiences serve to develop the knowledge and skills needed to care for our family medicine patients, and with an added fourth year, residents will gain much more depth of experience in learning and practice.
What’s New? P4.
Beginning with our June 2008 residents, our program will include a fourth year of some of the most innovative learning experiences a resident can find anywhere, including our Tracks of Excellence. Learn more…
