Personalized - Medical Humanities and Geriatrics
Dr. Desai came to Connecticut for a change of pace after growing up in New Jersey. She participated in a personalized Track of Excellence focusing on the Medical Humanities. She developed and led a monthly seminar (at a local winery) focusing on literature in medicine, and she hosted a tremendously popular art exhibition featuring local clinicians. She also proved to be an outstanding and deeply committed teacher and was the recipient of both the Ganguli Award for clinical excellence and the STFM Resident Teacher Award. She served as Co-Chief Resident during her final year at Middlesex. After graduation she entered part-time outpatient practice in Middletown, Connecticut, while also working as a per diem Hospitalist at Middlesex Hospital; simultaneously, she pursued a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Connecticut. Her eventual goal is to become a medical school faculty member, teaching both Family Medicine and the Medical Humanities to future physicians.
